This unique destination transforms a historic 155-foot bridge into a living garden, where visitors can stroll through more than 30 beautifully themed flower gardens. On one side, the majestic silhouette of Chimney Rock rises above the landscape, while the gentle waters of the Rocky Broad River flow peacefully below on the other.

What was once a decommissioned three-arch bridge was given new life in 2013, thanks to the vision and dedication of local volunteers. Today, it has become a vibrant public garden filled with colorful flowers, native plants, whimsical decorations, and artistic touches that change with the seasons. Best of all, it’s completely free to visit.

I stopped by on a rainy day in July 2024, and the weather did little to diminish the bridge’s beauty. If anything, the rain made the flowers appear even more vibrant, while the quiet atmosphere added to its peaceful charm. Bright murals surrounding the area complemented the colorful gardens, creating a delightful place to wander with a camera in hand.

Each garden had its own personality, featuring creative displays, charming ornaments, and thoughtful details. One of the most touching was the Rainbow Bridge Garden, a heartfelt memorial where visitors leave pet tags, collars, and mementos in honor of beloved companions who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It was a beautiful reminder of the special bond between people and their pets.
