We hiked the beautiful Five Lakes Trail, a short and scenic 3.0‑mile loop that winds through a series of stunning blue‑green lakes. Each lake has its own character, and the reflections of the surrounding mountains and trees make the entire hike feel peaceful and almost dreamlike. With an elevation gain of only 534 feet, this trail is approachable for most hikers and is popular because of its moderate ease and rewarding views.

If you’re looking to extend your adventure, you can add an additional loop around the first lake to turn the outing into a 5‑mile hike. Although there are a few short inclines along the way, they’re gentle and easy to manage. As always, I found my hiking stick helpful on the uneven sections.
We visited on September 21, 2022, arriving early enough to find the vegetation covered in a delicate layer of frost. The crisp morning air made the lakes even more beautiful — still, glassy, and reflecting the mountains like perfect mirrors. It felt serene and untouched, a quiet moment suspended between seasons.

I’ve learned that by November, the lakes are typically covered in snow, transforming the landscape into a completely different world. What we experienced was the last breath of autumn: cool air, brilliant reflections, and a trail that offered both beauty and calm. The Five Lakes Trail is a lovely hike and a memorable way to enjoy the changing seasons.
