Andy Cove Trail: An Easy, Scenic Hike with a Fun Suspension Bridge in Pisgah Forest, NC

We stopped at the Pisgah National Forest Visitor Center on November 15, 2021, and discovered the Andy Cove Trail, a short and easy loop that begins right from the visitor center parking lot.

At less than a mile, this is an ideal trail for a quick nature walk or for anyone looking for an easy hike without significant elevation gain. The trail winds through the forest and crosses several charming bridges, including a fun suspension bridge that was definitely one of the highlights of our walk.

The elevation gain is negligible, so the trail is quite manageable. The main thing to watch for is the tree roots along the path, which can create uneven footing.

We were lucky enough to catch the fall colors still at their peak, adding beautiful splashes of red, orange, and yellow to the forest. The colorful foliage made an already scenic trail even more enjoyable.

The Andy Cove Trail also connects with an exercise trail that follows the Davidson River and passes near historic English Chapel, making it possible to combine the two attractions into a longer outing.

I highly recommend the Andy Cove Trail if you’re visiting the area, especially for families with children. The short distance, easy terrain, beautiful bridges, and swinging bridge make it an enjoyable introduction to the natural beauty of Pisgah National Forest.
