Blue Ridge Parkway, NC

My mother and I drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway on 10/18/2020. We started in Cherokee, NC at the southern tip and headed toward Asheville. We stopped at several overlooks starting at milepost 468.4 – View Oconaluftee River and turned around at milepost 435.3 – View Doubletop Mountain.

The Blue Ridge Parkway extends 469 scenic miles from Virginia to North Carolina. It was absolutely beautiful this time of year as the Fall season was in full swing. Besides scenic drives, it offers a number of points of interest such as hiking trails, waterfalls, the highest mountain peak in eastern US (Mount Mitchell) , the oldest river in North America (aptly named New River), the deepest gorge east of the Grand Canyon (Linville Gorge)
