White Rock Loop Trail at Buffalo Mountain Park: A Stunning Fall Hike, TN

On a crisp October day in fall 2025, my friend Laura and I set out for Buffalo Mountain Park in Tennessee to hike the White Rock Loop and Tower Ridge Trail. The small parking area—only big enough for a handful of cars—hinted at the quieter, less-traveled feel of this mountain hike. Fall colors were everywhere, we pulled over a few times along the way to snap photos of the road.

The roughly 3.5-mile loop we planned to hike proved moderately challenging, with a steady uphill climb layered in fallen leaves, exposed tree roots, scattered acorns, and rocky footing. As we gained about 1,050 feet in elevation, the effort paid off with sweeping autumn vistas. I recommend hiking sticks and sturdy boots especially if it had recently rained as leaves could be slippery.

All along the trail, vibrant reds, glowing oranges, and golden yellows lit the forest, making every step feel like a walk through a magical fall forrest.
