Sewanee Bridal Veil Falls

From the Cross to Sewanee Bridal Veil Falls: Spring Magic on the Sewanee Perimeter Trail, TN

We hiked from the Cross to Sewanee Bridal Veil Falls at the end of April 2022, and it was one of those perfect spring outings where everything feels fresh, green, and full of life. We parked right by the Cross, taking a moment to enjoy the sweeping overlook and the beautiful stone structure before heading onto the trail.

The hike was roughly five miles round‑trip, an easy and peaceful walk for most of the way. Spring had fully arrived — wildflowers blooming along the path, creeks running clear, and small cascades tumbling over mossy rocks. We crossed several wooden bridges, each offering a quiet moment to pause and admire the water below. The trail remained gentle until the final stretch, where an angled incline leads down toward the waterfall. That section adds a bit of challenge, but nothing overwhelming. Total elevation gain was about 800 feet.

One of the best parts of the day was the solitude. The Sewanee Bridal Veil Falls trail wasn’t crowded, allowing us to take our time — stopping for photos, listening to the creeks, and enjoying the cool shade of the forest. Including a relaxed lunch break, we spent about 4.5 hours wandering through these beautiful woods.

Sewanee Bridal Veil Falls itself was gorgeous — a delicate ribbon of water spilling over the rock ledge into a serene pool below. After such a lush spring hike, reaching the falls felt like the perfect finale.

Sewanee Bridal Veil Falls

I absolutely recommend this hike. It’s scenic, peaceful, and full of Sewanee’s signature natural beauty.
