Bell Park, NC officially opened in 2024 in Saluda and was named in honor of Frank and Calla Bell, summer camp pioneers. Eager to explore, we set out on the newly built, scenic 1.8-mile trail.
Our adventure began at the short pedestrian bridge over the Green River, just beside the overflow parking lot. The bridge was built by the NC State Highway commission in 1927. It offers a scenic view of a beautiful waterfall.

From there, we crossed the road to enter Bell Park and start our hike. We first headed toward the overlook, walking along a brand-new boardwalk. After descending a set of steps, we paused to admire a small waterfall cascading beneath the wooden structure—a serene and picturesque moment. Afterward, we retraced our steps to rejoin the main trail which consists of two loops.
The trail is moderately challenging, with a series of gentle climbs and descents. In this season, it’s especially breathtaking, with blooming white and pink Mountain Laurels lining the path in full display. I couldn’t resist stopping frequently to take photos.

By the end of the hike, AllTrails had recorded a total of 2.48 miles and an elevation gain of 292 feet. We completed our hike in 1 hour and 23 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a beautiful and moderately challenging hike.
