Babcock State Park, WV

Located 20 miles southeast from the New River Gorge Bridge, Babcock State park encompasses 4,127 acres of picturesque views including Glade Creek Grist Mill. The mill is fully functional and much photographed. It was built from parts acquired from three old West Virginia mills. It is a replica of the Cooper’s Mill it replaced.

We visited the park on Tuesday 10/5/2021 mostly to photograph the mill. We hiked a short trail to an overlook but I guess it would be more scenic in the winter when it is not obstructed by trees and leaves. Then we drove to an overlook stopping by the 19 acre Boley lake. The park offers camping, fishing, hiking, boating, geocaching etc. My favorite part was definitely the mill.
