How incredible it was to watch the total lunar eclipse on the night of May 15–16, 2022! A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align, causing Earth to cast its shadow across the Moon. During a total lunar eclipse, the entire Moon passes into Earth’s shadow and can take on a striking reddish hue.
It was fascinating to watch the bright full Moon slowly disappear into the darkness before transforming into a beautiful blood-red Moon. Then, just as slowly, the Moon began emerging from Earth’s shadow. I only wish I could have stayed awake until the eclipse was completely over, but it was getting very late! Even so, witnessing this incredible celestial event was an experience I won’t forget.
