60th Birthday Musings

So this is 60!

There is a little girl within wondering how is that even possible?
Then she remembers
every birthday candle,
growing up in a war zone,
leaving her home country,
every time she started over,
every heartbreak,
every milestone,
every college degree,
every tear,
every difficulty,
every disappointment,
every despair,
every heart jump,
every pride point,
every achievement,
every kiss,
every hug,
every “I love you”,
watching her sons grow into men,
every time she hugged her parents,
losing her father,
every son’s graduations,
every celebration of their other milestones,
every time she pushed herself,
one divorce,
two marriages,
every time she looks into her husband loving eyes,
holding her grandson for the first time, …..

She focuses on her reflection in the mirror and smiles. It was not easy, this life of hers, but she has been blessed
