I visit this beautiful park often. This is my fourth blog on it. Every time I stop by I find reasons to click the shutter, I hope you agree. This park is located on Laurel street in downtown Columbia. I enjoy all three of our river side parks. This one in particular has a large parking lot so it’s easier to get in and out than the others whose parking lots are rather small. You will see joggers, fishermen, students, photographers, bicylists, families enjoying the outdoors, ducks, birds, wild flowers and you might learn a bit of Columbia’s history from boards scattered along the way.
According to Discover South Carolina “This 167-acre park was the site of the original waterworks for the City of Columbia. This was also the site of the world’s first electrically operated textile mill and the hydroelectric plant, the oldest one in the state, is still operating.”
