Saluda Shoals Park, SC

Visited Saluda Shoals on Saturday 8/8 for a walk. This is a lively park on Bush River Rd in Columbia. I was surprised to find a number of people tubing, canoeing and kayaking the Saluda river despite recent warning of contamination. It was a beautiful day, I was happy to see a few walkers enjoying the clean easy wooded trail system along the river. The park is 400 acre large offering paved and unpaved trails for hiking, biking and jogging. The park offers organized paddling programs as well as tube, kayak and canoe rental with pick up service. They also rent out bicycles. There is an option to purchase a yearly pass, otherwise entrance is $5 per car.

I was informed by a friend (Thanks Jenny Haworth) that the contamination was actually south of the park. Two good sources to check the water quality before paddling are listed below.
