On November 6, 2021, I set out on a solo hike to Kings Creek Falls near Mountain Rest, South Carolina. This easy 1.4-mile out-and-back trail begins at the Burrells Ford parking area and leads through a beautiful forest before reaching the impressive 70-foot waterfall.

Fall was the perfect time to visit. The forest was bursting with color, with vibrant leaves covering the trees and carpeting the trail beneath my feet. Along the way, I crossed a couple of small bridges and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. The trail itself was beautiful, but the best was saved for the end. After an easy walk through the colorful forest, I reached Kings Creek Falls, where the water cascades dramatically down the rocky mountainside.

I especially enjoyed experiencing this trail on my own. The combination of an easy hike, gorgeous autumn scenery, and a spectacular waterfall made it a memorable South Carolina adventure. If you’re looking for a relatively short hike with a rewarding destination, Kings Creek Falls is definitely worth adding to your list.
