Shem Creek, SC

Last Saturday 1/9/2020 I stopped at Shem Creek after hiking nearby. If you have not been there yet, make sure to add it to your list the next time you are in Charleston, SC. Shem Creek is in Mount Pleasant just across the Arthur Ravenel bridge if arriving by car, another option is to take a water taxi from downtown or your own boat which can be tied to a floating dock in the creek. Shem Creek is home to excellent restaurants where you can dine indoors or outdoors overlooking the water. The restaurants are always crowded even during Covid as you can see in some of the photos below. If you plan to dine, make sure you allow plenty of time to wait for a table. You can sip your favorite beverage while you wait and enjoy watching shrimping boats, yachts, small boats, water skiing, paddling and other water sports. It’s one of my favorite places in Charleston. I always make a point to stop by and wander down the 2,200 ft. boardwalk in Shem Creek park and enjoy the picturesque scenery especially at sunset.
