We stopped by Hatcher Garden in Spartanburg, SC based on a friend’s recommendation since we were in the area. According to their web site “Nestled in the heart of Spartanburg, Hatcher Garden is a place of beauty and serenity for every season.” We found this statement to be very true. It was therapeutic to walk along the various pathways listening to the birds chirping and to the voices of a few children running around. We had brought a picnic lunch that we ate in the gazebo by the entrance to the sound of running water nearby. It was July 4th, 2020. The restrooms were closed due to Covid and the place was not crowded at all, perhaps a dozen people at the most.
