Peak to Prosperity Pomaria Passage Radiance: A Flower‑Filled Spring Finale on the Palmetto Trail

Today we hiked the final stretch of the Peak to Prosperity Pomaria Passage of the Palmetto Trail. Our plan was simple: enjoy a relaxed spring outing and see how far the western end of the passage would take us. We hiked 4 miles before turning around, and spring turned out to be the perfect season for this section—flowers were everywhere, lining the trail in soft colors and giving the woods a fresh, lively feel.

One of the highlights was a beautiful staircase with a landing, recently built by local Boy Scouts. We didn’t realize its significance until we paused on the landing and looked up—each step was inscribed with a word from the Scout Law, carved with care and intention. My friend Terri and I each chose the adjective that best described us, sat on our chosen step, and took a photo. It was a sweet, unexpected moment of reflection tucked into the trail.

We weren’t entirely sure where the passage officially ended, and we may have wandered a bit beyond the marked terminus. But our curiosity paid off—we reached a glorious meadow bursting with wildflowers, a wide, sunlit clearing that felt like a reward for exploring just a little farther. It was the perfect finale to this portion of the Palmetto Trail.
