Middle and North Sugarloaf, NH

Date of Hike: October 5th, 2024

If you’re looking for a picturesque hike in New Hampshire this fall, look no further than the North and Middle Sugarloaf Trail. This popular trail, extending 3.5 miles out and back, offers a moderate challenge with its rocky terrain, roots, and elevation changes.

I highly recommend arriving at the trailhead early. The North and Middle Sugarloaf Trail attracts many outdoor enthusiasts, and getting an early start ensures you’ll enjoy a quieter experience and some of the best views before the crowds arrive.

As I set out on the trail, I was greeted by the soothing sounds of a flowing river and the vibrant colors of autumn leaves. Each step brought the satisfying crunch of leaves beneath my feet, heightening my anticipation as I made my way toward the top.

The combined elevation gain of North and Middle Sugarloaf is close to 1,000 feet. The stunning vistas that await at the top make it a worthwhile hike. I was blown away by the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, showcasing the rich hues of fall.

The beauty of this hike is not only in the final destination but also in the journey. The trail is well-marked and maintained. For those planning a visit, I highly recommend a hiking stick. It provides extra stability on the rocky sections of the trail, enhancing your overall hiking experience.

In summary, the North and Middle Sugarloaf Trail is a must-try, especially during the fall season. The combination of vibrant foliage, flowing river, and breathtaking views makes for a memorable hiking experience
