I stopped by this beautiful Marshwalk on April 2nd, 2021. I loved the vibe as soon as I stepped out of the car. The area was crowded with people eating or drinking at the various waterfront restaurants. I could hear live music and a lovely singer’s voice. It was beautiful and fun. The area is rich with legends, they include pirate stories of Blackbeard and Drunken Jack, ghost stories of Alice Flagg and the Gray Man. The town’s history tells of fishermen, steamboats, and prosperous rice plantations.
The Marshwalk is located in the heart of the town. The boardwalk extends 1/2 mile into the beautiful blue water. I saw pelicans, cormorants, grackles, egrets, herons. There were boats, kayaks and other water vessels to rent.
I very much enjoyed my walk, people and bird watching.
