I met the Girls Who Hike, SC on Saturday 2/27/2021 to hike Big Rock and Cedar Rock trails at the trail parking lot at the intersection of E Preston McDaniel Rd and Nine Times Creek Rd in Pickens. They are only 2.2 and 1.6 miles respectively but the trail is quite steep -at least for me being used to the flat trails of the midlands. The hikes are rated as moderate as the elevation is 697ft and 466ft respectively but being short trails they climb up quickly. I was short of breath and had to slow down to rest frequently. It was a very foggy and humid day. The views are supposed to be lovely, unfortunately we could not see much in terms of views but it was beautiful nonetheless. Cedar Rock’s summit is full of amazing boulders. We enjoyed a short break on top. I am hoping I could do this hike one more time when it’s clear to experience the promised views.
