On September 9, 2024, we set off to explore Roxborough State Park, excited for a new adventure. It was our second stop of the day, and as we arrived, the day had gotten warm.
We hiked the Lyons Overlook Trail, a well-marked path with easy terrain and breathtaking views. At just 1.7 miles, it was an ideal choice for an enjoyable hike. As we set out, the vibrant colors of the red rocks immediately captured our attention. Reaching the overlook, we were greeted with a breathtaking panorama of the park. Roxborough State Park had once again reminded us of the incredible beauty of the natural world and the joy of exploring it.
Covering 3,413 acres, the park opened to the public in 1987. It is located about an hour drive from Denver. There is a $10 charge per vehicle and $4 per person for a daily pass. If visiting multiple Colorado state parks, a twelve-month pass at $29 may be more cost-effective. Roxborough offer 15 miles of trail of various difficulty along with overlooks and historical sites.
