BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, GA

We visited the mandir in Lawrenceville on Sunday 5/23/2021. I was in complete awe when I saw the giant white art sculpture. A mandir is a place of worship. The temple is built on 29 acres in Lilburn, GA. The website states that it took 17 months and 1.3 million of volunteer hours to construct. Anywhere one looks hand carved statues stare back telling many stories. It’s a magical place where many come to worship others to admire, certainly an artistic labor of love.

Shoes must be left outside, shoulders to knees must be covered as a sign of reverence. We walked on Italian marble floors into two prayer rooms filled with colorful statues of revered enlightened masters.

  1. Unbelievable that a place like that exists in the US and especially in the deep South.
